When Purphoros enters the battlefield, your devotion to its color (including the mana symbols in the mana cost of Purphoros itself) will determine if a creature entered the battlefield or not for abilities that trigger whenever a creature enters the battlefield

It doesnt copy whether that creature is tapped or untapped, whether it has any counters on it or Auras and Equipment attached to it, or any non-copy effects that have changed its power, toughness, types, color, and so on

They read, Whenever Coercive Recruiter or another Pirate enters the battlefield under your control, gain control of target creature until end of turn

If you want to cast a card with convoke by simply tapping your lands, go for it
